PREFACE

"Know that lust has been given to man for two benefits:
First benefit; It is to think about the pleasures of the hereafter and compare them with this pleasure. This very short pleasure in the world; If it lasted longer, it would be the greatest of bodily pleasures. The pains of the hereafter are also the most severe of the pains that cause suffering to the object. The tasting of pleasure and pain while in the world is a kind of encouragement and awakening and guides people to the path that leads to eternal bliss. Because, you can not miss something unknown by tasting it.
Second benefit; it is the continuation of human existence and generation.
These are the benefits of your lust. Also, there are a lot of signs that occur when lust is taken under control and not protected from transcendence. These disasters will ruin one's religion and the world.
Some commentators said that lust is meant by the verse "Our Lord, do not put the burden on us that we cannot afford".
This lust leads some confused to love. This is the pinnacle of ignorance and puts man in a position that is inferior to the animal. Because a person who is in love is not satisfied with the taste of sexual contact. Because it seems that I will be satisfied with that lust only in one place. Even when animals are satisfied with any spouse, he thinks that he will be happy only with a certain person and becomes a slave. With such lust, even the mind mocks. Because the mind was created so that it might be obeyed. Or not so that he becomes a servant of lust and becomes barren because of it!
Love is nothing but an exasperated form of lust. It is a disease of carefree and empty hearts. In order not to fall into love malady, it is necessary to avoid the looks and thoughts that are the beginning of this malady. If this is not done, love gets stronger and it becomes difficult to get rid of it. "
Abu Hâmid al-Gazzâlî "Ihyâu Ulûmi'd-dîn"
"Pleasure is desired not only by people but by all living beings. It is not possible to reproach it because it is pleasure. It can only be reproached if it causes greater and complete pleasures to escape. The difference between an intelligent and intelligent person and an ignorant and foolish person also manifests itself here. In this way, he suffers little and gets rid of great pain.
According to this rule, we can say that the pleasures of the hereafter are greater and the lasting pleasures of the world are less and limited. The troubles of the world and the hereafter are like that. The power to make this choice depends on faith. If faith dominates the heart, man prefers the higher of pleasure to the lower one. By bearing a little of the suffering, he gets rid of hard to endure and big pains. May God help us.
Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya "al-Fawaid"
