PRESENTING THE HISTORICAL SERIES OF PROPHETS
We are happy to present this precious work of Ahmet Cemil Akıncı, titled Büyük Kısas-ı Enbiya (The Story of the Prophet), to the Turkish reader in a meticulously studied new edition. This series of Akıncı, who dedicates a significant part of his life to writing historical novels in the religious and national field, is one of the best examples of the 'kisas-ı Enbiyâ' literary genre and a contemporary interpretation. The main sources of the work are the Qur'an, tafsirs, hadith books and hadith commentaries, as well as qisas al-anbiya literature.
While preparing this edition, our publishing house aimed to make the work more perfect with the meticulous work of a committee composed of academics, mostly theologians and Islamic historians. The main criterion of the committee, which reviewed the work from beginning to end, is to determine whether the information and narrations contained in it are found in sources that belong to Islamic culture and whether they are generally accepted. In this context, the stories told in the work and the narrations in the story have been determined especially in the literature of 'prophetic stories and history' and their sources have been tried to be shown.
Akıncı was able to draw the reader into the atmosphere of the prophets with an emotional narration in a gripping novel setup, and in this way, he knew how to give his work a feature that could be read by everyone from seven to seventy.
This work should not be seen as a history book. The author tried different styles as required by the genre of novel and story, sometimes made angels talk to give some information, and sometimes made explanations by going beyond the flow of time in history.
On the other hand, the exact period in which many prophets lived is not clearly stated in historical sources. The author came up with an approximate date with the calculations he made based on the data at hand, stated this in the relevant section at the beginning of each book, and based on these dates determined in the text of the novel.
Although some prophets were finished in a single and separate book, the lives of others continued in several books. For example, Moses is continued in the volumes about Aaron and Joshua (pbuh). This is about the work being a series.
After the history of the prophets, which will consist of twenty-two books, the series called Our Beloved Prophet is also being prepared by our publishing house, and a large part of Ahmet Cemil Akıncı's corpus will be completed in this way.
